Threads, by Instagram the new “meta” app being a competitor of its rival Twitter has just launched and is gathering a lot of traffic in its first few hours.
It is also gathering a lot of concerns, as meta is known for eating up data and using it for targeted advertising, and now they have cloned Instagram with Threads which is raising concerns. This new app requires an Instagram account for onboarding, and now deleting a Threads account is only possible if you terminate the linked Instagram account.
The signing up process to the new THREADS app,
The signing up process is fairly simple in the new Threads App.
You can either create a new account on Threads or use your Instagram account to do so. After signing up using Instagram, Threads will give you the option to write a new bio and username or you can import and use the same bio and username as Instagram.
The Policy Concern,
Meta elaborates on the policy page that a Threads profile is part of the user’s Instagram account. It so says that the thread is a part of Instagram account, and due to this reason these conditions are applied.
A large number of brands have already signed up to Threads and have expressed a favor towards it, such as Netflix, Amazon, NFL, Pepsi. But major companies like — Apple, Google, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Disney — have not yet turned up yet on Threads.
There were a lot of concerns when it comes to user safety in meta, and now a new app is a lot useful for them but not sure how good is it for us.
